Carlos Fernández Salinas, Head of the VTS Department and Fernando Álvarez Matías, Head of the Communications Department, are in Lebanon this week, teaching a VTS/SAR communications induction course to operational personnel in the Middle East maritime area of influence at the proposal of IMO/IALA.

The course is being held at the facilities of MARSATI, the Lebanese Government's Maritime Training Centre, and for this purpose, the Jovellanos Centre has deployed its portable VTS simulator, which is the first simulator to be approved for training maritime traffic management personnel in any maritime area in the world.
