Awareness about LNG emergency management on board ships, knowledge and skills about the different types and methods of LNG bunkering, fire fighting agents and methods used to control and extinguish fires in conjunction with the different fuels found on board ships subject to the IGF Code.
Program

The program of the course “Basic training for ships subject to the IGF Code” comply with MSC.397(95) Resolution adopted on 11th of June 2015, about mandatory minimum standards regarding special training requirements for personnel on board ships subject to the IGF Code.
Course and evaluation training complying with Regulation V/3.5 STCW, 1978 as amended in 2010; Section A-V/3.1; Table A-V/3-1. 

  • Contribute to the safe operation of a ship subject to the IGF Code.
  • Take precautions to prevent hazards on a ship subject to the IGF Code.
  • Apply occupational health and safety precautions and measures.
  • Take precautions to prevent pollution of the environment from the release of fuels found on ships subject to the IGF Code.
Practices
  • Cryogenic tests.
  • Vaporization of LNG by water application.
  • Fire organizations and actions to be taken on ships.
  • Special hazards associated with LNG systems and LNG handling on ships.
  • Extinguish LNG fires by dry chemical powder means.
  • Application of high expansion foam in the event of LNG spillage.
  • Measures to be taken in the event of leakage of LNG from pipelines, wearing cryogenic protective clothing. 
  • Measures to be taken in the event of an LNG fire by shutting manual valves.
  • RPT and BLEVE demonstration.
Duration
The course is carried out in two days.
Class hours
The course is comprised of 12 certified hours.
Maximum number of students
16 trainees.
