Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre operators, Maritime Rescue aircraft crews, masters and officers of the Merchant Marine.

Goals

Quickly and effectively establish the location of an incident, identifying the search areas in order to calculate the drift of shipwreck survivors, objects, or vessels that have disappeared at sea.

Program

Introduction to SARMAP. The marine environment. Interpreting an SAR scenario. SAR operation outcome. Creating an SAR scenario.

Methodology and forecasts. Applying IAMSAR and Monte Carlo calculation methods. Deploying search and rescue units (SRU).

Exercises based on case studies. Complemented with individual and group activities, discussion forums, and a final simulation exercise guided by an instructor.

 

VIRTUAL CAMPUS

SARMAP is part of the Jovellanos Centre’s virtual platform, which can be accessed from any location, providing a useful and dynamic learning experience, and a completely customized learning process.

Duration

The course consists of 50 teaching hours and it´s delivered over a period of 7 weeks.
