This course has been designed for professional who belong to the fire-fighting services in commercial ports and consortiums governing coastal regions, particularly in the case of LNG facilities and LNG powered vessels.

Goals

Provide emergency services with the knowledge to take action in distressed ship scenarios and techniques to place personnel and equipment on board damaged ships.

Provide fire-fighters and other emergency Management and Logistics teams knowledge on the main hazards of LNG.

Provide emergency teams with knowledge covering the following points:

the maritime environment and familiarization with ships. Ship stability. Organisations in the maritime environment. Special resources. Planning on-board operations. Special risks when operating on board vessels. Communications. Strategies and tactics. Problems associated with emergencies on board ships. Post-incident activities. Legal considerations.

Program

Rescue devices and equipment. Individual and collective equipment. Survival at sea (actions prior to jumping into the water, actions that have to be taken once in the water, actions that have to be carried out in the rescue boat, helicopter hoisting).

Procedures in the water and survival techniques.

LNG properties and characteristics.

LNG exercises.

Crew organisation.  Fire plans. Maritime environment. Familiarisation with ships. Organisations in the maritime environment. Special resources.

Fire suppression, Search and Rescue in cabins and bunkers. BA control.

Fixed on-board fire extinguishing systems.

Fire in the engine room.

Fire in the hold.

Duration

The course consists of 35 certified hours, it´s delivered over a period of 5 days.
