Maritime workers who hold one of the following certificates:

Basic Specific Health Care Training Certificate in force.

First refresher certificate for the Basic Specific Health Care Training Certificate in force.

Advanced Specific Health Care Training Certificate in force.

First refresher certificate for the Advanced Specific Health Care Training Certificate in force.

Requirement: Refresher courses must be taken prior to the expiry of the specific health care training certificate.

After the completion of two successive refresher courses or when the time limit set out in the preceding paragraph is exceeded, training must include the requirements included in Appendix I to Order PRE/646/2004, of 5 March 2004.

Goals

Refresh first aid skills, basic nursing techniques, and the medical advice procedure via radio.

Updating skills on first aid training, basic nursing techniques, and the radio medical consultation procedure.

Law: The Jovellanos Centre is certified by the Maritime Social Institute to provide health care training courses under Order PRE/646/2004.

Program

The syllabus complies with the Resolution of 24 April 2013, of the Maritime Social Institute.

Examining a patient.

Asphyxia and cardiac arrest.

Treatment for haemorrhage, wounds and burns, sprains, dislocations, and fractures.

Transporting injured people.

Administering medication.

Medical consultation via radio.

Assessment.

Duration

The course consists of 8 teaching hours and it´s delivered over a period of 1 day.

Certificate

Valid for 5 years.
