European Maritime Authorities gathered to Helsinki to launch the final phase of the ECGFA NET PROJECT.
The European Coast Guard Functions Academy Network project has reached its final phase. To mark the occasion, all project contributors and observers were invited to Helsinki to discuss the plans for reaching the final objectives in the project. The meetings took place the 18th-19th September. A central goal in the project is the finalise a common framework of competencies and qualifications for training in coast guard functions, known as the coast guard functions sectoral qualifications framework (CGFSQF). Another central element is running a 2nd phase of the ECGF Exchange Programme, this time with even more training opportunities and a broader participant profile. The third objective is to tie together all project results and ensure that they are sustainable enough to continue after the project lifetime. ECGFA NET III is a joint effort of 11 European coast guard functions organisation. The Finnish Border Guard has led it from the start. Within the project, the Italian Coast Guard leads the development of the sectoral qualification framework. The Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agendy is resposible for running the 2nd phase of the ECGF Exchange Programme.
