This course aims to fulfil the additional offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry who will be issued a rebreather-type Emergency Breathing System (EBS) for use during offshore helicopter transportation.
Requirement: A valid official medical certificate of fitness is required.
Acceptable certificates include: Certificate of fitness for professional duties; Certificate of fitness for offshore embarkation; or Certificate of fitness for the performance of subaquatic activities.
Trainees must hold a valid certificate in one of the following: BOSIET (with EBS), BOSIET (with CA-EBS), TBOSIET, FOET (with EBS), FOET (with CA-EBS), or TFOET.
The purpose of the FOET course is to provide students with the chance to practice and demonstrate their emergency response skills that cannot be practiced during drills, exercises, and emergencies as sea.
The course includes a theoretical part, demonstrations by the instructors, and practical exercises that trainees must perform in order to achieve the goals set out.
All the practical training will be performed in a safe and controlled environment supervised by qualified instructors.
- Demonstrate competence in using safety equipment and following helicopter emergency preparedness and response procedures, with particular emphasis on escaping from a helicopter after a forced ditching.
- Demonstrate effective use of basic firefighting equipment and practise self-rescue techniques in conditions of restricted or zero visibility, including smoke-filled compartments.
- Correctly apply basic first aid techniques.
- OIS-73 Refresher Training in Helicopter Underwater Escape (HUET) with EBS.
- OIS-74 Refresher Training in Firefighting and Self-Rescue.
- OIS-75 Refresher Training in First Aid.
The course consists of 8 certified hours, it´s delivered over a period of 1 day.
OPITO Registry. Valid for 4 years.
Where refresher training is undertaken within three (3) months prior to the expiry date of the certificate being renewed, the original validity date of that certificate shall be retained.
