On Tuesday, 2 December 2025, the third meeting of the Technical Committee of the SMarAI Project was held at the central offices of the Spanish Maritime Rescue Agency (Salvamento Marítimo) in Madrid.
The meeting was attended by technical teams from Salvamento Marítimo, CEDEX, AEMET and State Ports, organisations that are working closely together on the development of this initiative.
🔹 What is SMarAI?
SMarAI (Smart Maritime AI) is an innovative project co-funded by the European Commission, aimed at enhancing the handling of maritime emergencies through an advanced platform based on Artificial Intelligence.
Its purpose is to:
✅ Anticipate risks
✅ Optimise resources
✅ Speed up decision-making in critical situations such as spills, accidents or evacuations.
Each participating organisation contributes data and technical expertise to ensure that AI becomes a key tool for safeguarding human life and protecting the marine environment.
